Sabor Latino
About This Spot
Stepping into Sabor Latino on Starling Avenue, you’re embraced by a warm, unpretentious energy that feels like a neighborhood secret waiting to be savored. The pace here moves with the gentle rhythm of daily life in the Bronx — welcoming yet lively enough to carry the hum of good conversation and the clatter of plates being shared. It’s a place where familiar faces meet flavorful moments, offering a relaxed spot to enjoy both a quick meal and a lingering lunch with friends or family.
The atmosphere is casual but attentive, with a subtle buzz that hints at a community’s affection for hearty, honest food. Amid the encouraging clinks of cutlery and soft chatter, service flows smoothly, inviting you to settle in and savor the unfolding experience without rush.
At Sabor Latino, the menu is less about checking boxes and more about discovering comforting pairings that stay with you. Plates like broiled shrimp paired with yellow rice and beans, or the warmth of seafood empanadas, bring fresh local flavors together with a touch of Caribbean and Latin soul. Mofongo with tender chicken, or a generous tostones cup filled with shredded beef and tangy vinaigrette, speak to a culinary narrative that is both familiar and richly textured.
The seafood offerings feel particularly rooted in coastal tradition — think steamed clams that carry delicate hints of garlic, or a broiled basa filet with a perfectly balanced sauce. And if you’re drawn to bold combinations, the rib eye steak alongside lobster is a indulgence that captures both heartiness and finesse. Even the sweet corners of the menu, like tres leches and flan, reveal a gentle, homey finish to the meal.
Sabor Latino’s appeal extends beyond its plates; it’s woven into the flow of the space and the people who gather here. Whether it’s an easy weekday lunch or a casual weekend catch-up, there’s an unmistakable feeling of comfort and care. Portions arrive generous without fanfare, and the attentive, familiar hospitality encourages guests to simply enjoy the moment — a quality that has helped this spot hold its place in the neighborhood over time.

Hands-down, one of the best Chinese spots left in the Bronx. Is sad to say many other great spots have closed down this one I believe now holds the crown. Great tasting old-school Chinese food at decent prices.

The food is great. They have huge portions of food at a great price. The fried tilapia was flavorful & crispy. I had the House Chofan with shrimp which were cooked perfectly.

I went with my friend who lives nearby for Lunch. It was clear and got to our tables fast. It took a bit to decide what I want. When we got our order they gave us garlic bread it was good. It took a while but my friend got his food first and took a while before mine came. The food was awesome and also got a Coca Cola. I will recommend for anyone on a Sunday afternoon

I recently visited Sabor Latino and had the pleasure of trying their fried rice with succulent roasted pork, and I was truly delighted. The rice was perfectly seasoned with a hint of smokiness that elevated every bite, while the pork boasted a crispy exterior and a tender, flavor-packed interior. The freshness of the ingredients and the evident care in its preparation made this dish a standout. If you’re looking for authentic Latino flavors that will leave you craving more, you need to stop by Sabor Latino!
